**** 2024 UPDATE ****
I did a couple of rookie mistakes when mastering this EP and mended some of them. The remastered version of all songs are now uploaded and they should sound even better.
This little EP has many facets and is inspired by multiple different aspects that you can read about in the "info" section of every track. The initial spark came by using the tuning Calum Graham wrote his songs "Liorah's Lullaby" and "Waiting" with. This is a tuning I really like. Since I first listened to "Waiting" in 2014, and became more invested in fingerstyle guitar in late 2019 I knew that I would one day write a song in that tuning.
When I actually set out to to learn Liorah's Lullaby inspiration hit and I ended up writing these three songs instead. They all evolved within the three months of February, March and April 2023.
About the album cover:
The edited photo I took in Interlaken, Switzerland conveys the symbolism rather directly. You could say I am the one waiting one the bench while behind me, though not entirely out of sight, there is this beautiful scenery (life) happening, if only I was turning around and facing it.
About the album:
1 - Mountain Trail - Life is always going to be an uphill battle and a downward slope. I should come to peace with it and enjoy the beauty of thriving and decay while it lasts.
2 - Sapling - No matter how old I am I will never be too old to learn and grow as a human being. I am the eternal toddler.
3 - Deer in the Dawn - Watch out for those special moments in life, for they are not lasting. I don't know when and how the will roll over me, so better keep an open mind and heart
4 - There is no fourth. Stop Waiting, start living
inspired by life, nature, family, art
further inspiration and influences are the music of Calum Graham, R.D.King, Daniel Padim, Trevor Gordon Hall, Andy McKee and likely others
The second EP from Northern Irish singer-songwriter Bea Stewart runs from gentle folk to pillowy pop ballads, all perfectly executed. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 15, 2024
